GoMart Picks Up Two Stores in Ohio Expansion

ATHENS, Ohio – GoMart Inc. purchased two Cool Spot convenience stores and gas stations in Coolville and Tuppers Plains, Ohio, reported Athens Ohio Today. The total price for both locations was nearly $5 million.

County records show that GoMart paid $3 million for the Coolville location, which also includes a restaurant, with $1.6 million of that going toward the building and land. GoMart paid $1.95 million for the Tuppers Plains site, which includes a hot deli, with $1.04 million going toward the building and land.

GoMart Marketing Director Terry Smith said the Coolville location's restaurant will continue to operate. "We've had a lot of people concerned about that," she said. "They have a fabulous restaurant there."

Employees at both locations were asked to stay, according to Smith, who added that "they have the connections to customers." Smith also said customers can expect to see more merchandise offerings inside the stores.

These purchases are the most recent example of Gassaway, W.Va.-based GoMart's ongoing move into the area. The company purchased three Crossroads c-stores and gas stations in Athens County in 2012, along with a location in Hocking County.

"We have been expanding into Ohio," said Smith. "It's a very friendly market."
