Good & Quick Owner Recognized for Renewable Fuels Efforts
NEVADA, Iowa — Charlie Good, owner of Good & Quick convenience store, was awarded the 2017 Renewable Fuels Marketing Awards.
The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) presents the annual awards to retailers who put forth exceptional efforts to promote renewable fuel options. Two awards are given each year: one for ethanol marketing, and one for biodiesel marketing.
Honored by Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey, Good was recognized for his breakthrough in the petroleum monopoly by offering customers additional renewable options like E15, E85 or biodiesel, the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) stated.
In addition to his commitment to offering a variety of ethanol blends at his Good & Quick location in Nevada, Good was awarded the ethanol marketing award for his numerous efforts to promote ethanol at a local and national level. He has testified before the Environmental Protection Agency several times in support of higher Renewable Fuel Standard volumes, and has briefed Congressional staff on the value of E15.
Richard Weiner, owner of Cartersville Elevator in Nora Springs, Iowa, was recognized alongside Good with the biodiesel award for his biodiesel marketing to farmers through his tankwagon service.
"Unfortunately many retailers find it easy to stick with the fuel options of the past," said IRFA Executive Director Monte Shaw. "Thankfully, Charlie and Richard had the foresight to invest in the fuels of the future. Their reward has been increased sales and customer satisfaction. Both of these gentlemen deserve to be recognized and hopefully their hard work will inspire more retailers to expand their ethanol and biodiesel options."
IRFA represents the state's liquid renewable fuels industry and works to foster its growth.
