GPM Begins Operation of 92 Roadrunner Markets
RICHMOND, Va. — GPM Investments LLC has officially added 92 convenience stores to its footprint.
The company and its affiliates have taken ownership of the c-stores with fuel sales in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia operated by Mountain Empire Oil Co. (MEOC). GPM will continue to operate these stores under the Roadrunner Market brand name.
GPM and MEOC reached an acquisition agreement in February. The deal will further develop GPM's existing portfolio of stores in the Southeast region, as CSNews Online previously reported.
"The Roadrunner store employees have served customers with dedication and enthusiasm. We are eager to remain on the same path of service with passion and commitment," said Chris Giacobone, chief operating officer.
"Bringing the Roadrunner employees into the GPM family was very important to our leadership team and we look forward to our continued development with Roadrunner," he added. "The Broyles family established a great group of stores and they will be in good hands as our company continues to grow and expand."
Richmond-based GPM, together with its subsidiaries, is the largest privately owned company in the convenience store channel of business. With the addition of the Roadrunner stores, GPM has widened its reach more than 1,100 stores.
The company operates or supplies fuel to stores in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
