H-E-B Adding Ninth Full-Service C-store to Its Banner
SAN ANTONIO — H-E-B will open a second full-service convenience store in Northwest San Antonio that includes a gas station, car wash and Wendy's restaurant, reported the San Antonio Express-News. The $2.7-million, 7,416-square-foot location is planned for the corner of Bandera Road and Loop 1604, according to building permits and Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filings.
The store is approximately 60 percent of the size of H-E-B's smallest grocery store, a South Flores Market H-E-B in downtown San Antonio.
With this new convenience store, H-E-B will enter a competitive c-store market on San Antonio's North Side, where the Corner Store chain has been aggressively expanding and Circle K and Stripes have begun adding locations.
H-E-B often has kiosks near its gas stations, but few full-service convenience stores. Currently, H-E-B operates eight c-stores, two of which are on San Antonio's South Side, said H-E-B spokeswoman Dya Campos.
Details of the new c-store's design and construction schedule have not yet been set, Campos said.
H-E-B has more than 370 stores in Texas and Mexico.
