Kroger Names Geoffrey J. Covert Senior VP of Retail Operations

CINCINNATI -- The Kroger Co. announced this week that Geoffrey J. Covert was named senior vice president of retail operations, effective Jan. 1, 2011.

"Geoff brings tremendous leadership and background to this important position in our Company," Rodney McMullen, Kroger president, COO said in a released statement. "Geoff's broad range of experiences will enable him to continue to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our operations and enhance the customer experience at our stores."

In his new position, Covert will be responsible for leading Kroger’s programs and processes focused on operating efficiency, store productivity and associate and customer safety, according to the company.

Covert joined Kroger in 1996. He has served as senior vice president and president of Kroger Manufacturing, and for the past six years he has served as president of Kroger’s Cincinnati/Dayton division. Before joining Kroger, Covert worked in a number of management positions at Procter & Gamble over a 22 year period, the release stated.
