Kum & Go Aims to Provide E15 Education via Promotion

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Kum & Go LC teamed up with Growth Energy this week to offer a special promotion whereby customers could fill up with E15 for $1.15 per gallon, as well as learn about the benefits of the alternative fuel at two Little Rock, Ark.-area locations.

E15 is a blend of 15-percent ethanol and 85-percent gasoline that is approved for use in vehicles model year 2001 or newer, as well as all flex-fuel vehicles. It carries an 88-octane rating.

The promotions took place Wednesday and Thursday for four hours each day at the Kum & Go convenience stores located at 1303 S. Pine St. in Cabot, Ark., and 5216 JFK Blvd. in North Little Rock, Ark., respectively.

“We’re happy to deliver a little something extra to our customers during the busy and expensive holiday season,” said Jim Pirolli, vice president of fuels for Kum & Go. “This is a great opportunity for our customers to learn more about the benefits of E15, while at the same time saving a bit of money.”

According to Kum & Go, it plans to make E15 available at more than 65 stores across Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma and South Dakota during the next two years.

“As the leading coalition of U.S. ethanol supporters, Growth Energy is committed to accelerating the use of renewable fuel, increasing energy security, creating U.S. jobs and improving the environment through the use of alternative fuels,” said retired General Wesley Clark, board member of Growth Energy.

West Des Moines-based Kum & Go LC is the fifth-largest privately held and company-operated convenience store chain in the United States.

Growth Energy represents the producers and supporters of ethanol.
