Kum & Go Buys Three Former Gasby's Sites

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Kum & Go LC is boosting its holdings with the acquisition of three convenience stores in the Iowa City-Coralville area.

Formerly operated under the Gasby's banner, the two stores located in Iowa City will be rebranded and begin operations immediately as Kum & Go stores. The Coralville store will be closed, demolished and rebuilt, with an anticipated reopening later this year, according to the company.

When all construction is completed by year's end, there will be nine Kum & Go locations serving the Iowa City-Coralville area. Construction of a new store at 205 2nd Ave. in Coralville is anticipated to be completed in early fall, while a store on 1st Avenue in Coralville is slated to be rebuilt beginning this month and expected to reopen later this year as well. 

West Des Moines-based Kum & Go now has 156 convenience stores throughout Iowa. In total, the c-store chain operates more than 430 stores in 11 states: Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming.

According to the company's website, Gasby’s is a locally owned and independently operated chain of convenience stores located in the heart of the Interstate 80 corridor. The company was founded in 1989.
