Kum & Go Sales Associate Helps Customer Deliver Baby

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Keon Scott, a Muskogee, Okla., Kum & Go sales associate, had a life-changing overnight shift, as he helped a customer deliver a baby in the Muskogee
Kum & Go parking lot.

Brooklin Alexandria Bias was born at 4 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 18 to Sherry and Brian Bias of Muskogee. Brooklin was born in the seat of her family's Dodge Durango about a half-mile from home. Her mother and father had visited the Tulsa, Okla., St. John Medical Center earlier that night but had been sent home. Once they were certain the baby's arrival was imminent, the family headed to the Muskogee Regional Medical Center. They realized they weren't going to make it to the hospital in time so they headed to the nearest store -- a Kum & Go convenience store.

"I saw the Durango swerve and pull into the parking lot," said Scott. "I called 911 to ask for an ambulance to come to the store and then stayed on the line to give instructions to the Biases."

Brian Bias, father of Brooklin, said "We couldn't have gotten through this without Keon's help. Brooklin arrived minutes after the paramedics pulled into the parking lot."

"This is the first time we've experienced a baby delivery at one of our convenience stores," said W.A. Krause, founder and CEO of Kum & Go. "We're happy that Keon could help and are thankful that Brooklin has arrived safely into this world."
