Kum & Go Thanks Customers for 55 Years
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kum & Go LC is marking its 55th anniversary this month and the locally based retailer knows it couldn’t have reached this milestone without its customers.
As a thank you for more than five decades of patronage, Kum & Go is offering discounts -- appropriately centered around the number 55.
Every Tuesday during September, customers can purchase a small coffee (16 ounces) for 55 cents. In addition, the convenience store retailer is offering a different 55-cent coupon daily through its mobile app.
William A. Krause and Tony S. Gentle founded Kum & Go in 1959 with a single store in Hampton, Iowa. Fifty-five years later, the West Des Moines-based retailer is the fifth largest privately held, company-operated convenience store chain in the United States.
The business consists of more than 420 c-stores in 11 states: Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming. Kyle Krause, son of William, leads Kum & Go today as president and CEO.
In addition, it is the largest E85 fuel retailer in the state of Iowa. Kum & Go also sells E85 in nine other states: Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming.
