Lee-Moore Swings Into Action
Lee-Moore Oil Co., operator of more than 40convenience stores, will team up with the Truby G. Proctor family to sponsor the second annual Truby G. Proctor College Opportunities Golf Tournament Aug. 6 to benefit the Truby G. Proctor College Opportunities Fund of the Triangle Community Foundation.
The golf tournament will take place at the Governors Club in Chapel Hill with all proceeds going to a scholarship endowment. Various prizes will also be awarded to the top teams and for the longest drive and hole-in-one.
Among the companies sponsoring prizes are:
* Exxon Mobil Corp.;
* Carolina Pride Carwash Inc.;
* Eagle Transport;
* J.T. Davenport & Sons; and
* Royal Electric Company of Central Florida Inc.
The Truby G. Proctor College Opportunities Fund Scholarship Committee and the Triangle Community Foundation work with school administration to select 10 students from North Carolina middle schools to compete for scholarships. The program provides eighth graders with an incentive to focus on their studies to be better prepared to attend college.
A five-member scholarship committee consisting of representatives from Lee-Moore Oil Company and the Triangle Community Foundation will select the winners, who would receive a $1,000 scholarship per year for four consecutive years beginning in 2005.
