Long-Time Swisher Associate Passes Away

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — John White, a 60-year veteran of the tobacco industry, passed away on Feb. 27. He was 88.

White began his career in 1962 as a territory manager for Swisher International Inc. and retired in 1997 as vice president of national accounts. He continued to serve as a Goodwill Ambassador for the company at conventions and community events for many years past retirement, according to the Jacksonville-based supplier of tobacco products.

"The team at Swisher International is saddened to announce the death of retired employee and friend," the company said, adding "he will be greatly missed by his Swisher family."

White was born in Newport News, Va., and attended Florida Southern College, where he met the love of his life, Janie Cameron. They were married for 60 years prior to her death in 2011, according to his obituary on Legacy.com.

In his spare time, White liked to fish, hunt, golf, read and spend time with his family, friends, and Labrador Retriever.

He is survived by his daughters, Kelley White and Kimberly White Boyer; son, John Ramsey White III; two granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.

A memorial service will take place March 8 at the Club Continental in Orange Park, Fla.
