Love's Musket Corp. Expanding Access to DEF

OKLAHOMA CITY — Musket Corp., the trading and logistics arm of the Love's Family of Companies, has opened its seventh diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) wholesale bulk rack in Alorton, Ill., a suburb of St. Louis. The company is in the process of adding DEF facilities in select cities across the U.S.

In response to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Clean Air Act, diesel engine manufacturers have relied on selective catalytic reduction technology since 2010 to reduce nitrous oxide emissions from exhaust gases, the company said. DEF is a NOx abatement fluid that converts harmful emissions to nitrogen and water.

"We recognize the industry's need for fast and reliable access to DEF, and we're happy to offer a solution," stated Brian Hoover, manager of DEF for Musket. "By strategically placing our newest DEF rack in Alorton, which is just 10 miles from St. Louis, we can supply several Love's Travel Stops in the area, as well as our third-party wholesale customer base, with a stable supply, and we can assure our customers of the product's integrity."

Musket operates seven DEF terminals across the country and has plans to double that count by the end of 2017. The facilities are strategically located close to Love's Travel Stops stores to easily provide 24/7 access to DEF. All facilities produce product that meets ISO 22241 standards.

Current Musket DEF locations are in:

  • Kingman, Ariz.
  • Morrow, Ga.
  • Alorton, Ill.
  • Louisville, Ky.
  • Albuquerque, N.M.
  • Memphis, Tenn.
  • Salt Lake City, Utah

DEF has been available at the pump alongside diesel at all Love's Travel Stop locations in the U.S. since 2010. In 2015, Musket began producing DEF to address increasing market demand, supply redundancy concerns and logistical optimization opportunities.
