MACS Wins Top Doing Business Electronically Award

SAN ANTONIO – Mid-Atlantic Convenience Stores (MACS) won the top prize in Professional Datasolutions Inc.'s (PDI) annual Doing Business Electronically Awards during the first live audience vote at the 2014 PDI Users Conference and Training Seminar. Jacksons Food Stores, Graham C-Stores, CST Brands and Vintners Distributors were also nominated.

"It was such an honor to be chosen for this award by our industry colleagues," stated Scot Tomlinson, enterprise systems manager at MACS. "I can't wait to see the things our company will be able to accomplish in another year."

MACS was lauded for its wide-ranging use of PDI/Enterprise, a complete network-centric software system, to automate manual processes and produce time-saving results, according to the announcement. The Richmond, Va.-based chain used the software as it acquired 40 new stores while keeping the same number of employees at its home office.

More than 550 convenience retailers and petroleum marketers attended the conference, held Sept. 21-24 in San Antonio. Participants represented nearly 140 companies that operate more than 20,500 sites and nearly broke attendance records for the event.

"This conference is one of the highlights of my year," stated Patrick Abernathy, director of technology at Jacksons Food Stores. "PDI's software system is so extensive, you're guaranteed to learn something new from your instructors or your classmates every time you come here."

PDI provides software, hardware and professional services to approximately 330 companies and more than 29,000 retail locations worldwide.
