Mars Expands Manufacturing Plant
Mars Snackfood US has completed a $70 million-plus expansion of its Elizabethtown, Pa., plant, which produces Dove, Milky Way and Musketeer brand confections.
Dubbed the Dove Chocolate Center of Excellence, the facility supports the growth of the premium chocolate category and furthers the candy company's commitment to manufacturing 100-percent real chocolate for U.S. consumers.
Responsible for developing chocolate from the "cocoa bean to chocolate bar," the center contains a new cocoa bean roasting facility and additional production lines, which will help meet growing demand for Dove chocolate, the company said.
Dove is the fastest-growing premium chocolate brand in the country and the fastest-growing brand in the Mars Snackfood US portfolio, according to IRI data ending Aug. 10, 2008.
