Milam to Take President Post at RaceTrac

ATLANTA — The new year will bring new leadership at RaceTrac Petroleum Inc.

Chief Operating Officer (COO) Billy Milam will take over the role of president at the Atlanta-based convenience store chain on Jan. 1. He takes the reins from Max Lenker, who is wrapping up 40 years of service to RaceTrac.

Milam has been with the retailer for 17 years, having started as a real estate analyst in 1997. During his time at RaceTrac, he has also served as vice president of real estate and senior vice president of store development, store support and the RaceWay division.

He became COO of RaceTrac in January 2013.

Lenker announced his retirement in late August. He began his tenure with RaceTrac as a company pilot in 1974. Throughout the past four decades, he served in several roles. He started what became RaceTrac's real estate department at a time when the company's team member-operated store count was approximately 20 with annual sales of $35.6 million. At the time, he was responsible for real estate acquisition, and merchandise and gasoline purchasing.

He later moved to vice president of purchasing and executive vice president. Lenker was promoted to president of RaceTrac in 1986, as CSNews Online previously reported.

RaceTrac has more than 370 locations throughout the south.
