Miller's Neighborhood Markets Baking Up Sweets

NORFOLK, Va. -- Fresh-baked wholesome goodies are being baked fresh daily at Miller's Neighborhood Markets, a chain of 20 convenience stores in the Hampton Roads, greater Richmond and Northern Virginia areas. The chain's 20 locations now are home to the Fun Buns Bakery pastries -- more than 25 different doughnuts, cookies and other sweets.

"These are high-quality, delicious products like you might find at a coffee shop or bakery, but with the Miller's fresh guarantee and the convenience of being in one of Miller's Neighborhood Markets -- a place you stop anyway," said Jeff Miller, president. "It's another way Miller's makes life easy."

Products include homestyle cookies made with real butter, Hershey's Mini Kisses and Reese's Peanut Butter. Oatmeal cookies are made with real honey and walnuts. Like any other Miller's products, Fun Buns are guaranteed fresh, or are free.

Fun Buns feature cinnamon-swirled dough topped and baked with a variety of frostings and glazes including sweet honey glaze, vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter and cream cheese. Traditional cinnamon rolls are also available and feature cinnamon filling topped with vanilla, cream cheese, honey glaze, or peanut butter icings.

Doughnut varieties include jumbo raised doughnuts with chocolate, peanut butter and vanilla icings; cream filled long johns with peanut butter icing, chocolate or honey glaze; and a signature peanut butter and jelly doughnut with raspberry filling and the brand's specially developed peanut butter icing.

Other items include apple fritters, blueberry muffins, lemon poppy seed muffins, apple cheese Danish and a white chocolate raspberry scone.

Individual items are priced at under $1, while doughnuts are priced at $5.99 per dozen.

Fun Buns are being developed by Miller's director of food operations Mark Smith, who has 25 years experience in the convenience store and restaurant business. "We are taking food service at Miller's Neighborhood Markets to the next level," said Smith. "Premium, quality foods like Fun Buns are what you would expect to find at a fast-casual restaurant or a true neighborhood market like Miller's."
