Murphy USA Breaks Ground in Nevada
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Murphy USA Inc. is making good on its promise to expand to new states. According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, the El Dorado, Ark.-based convenience store retailer will open at least four locations in North Las Vegas.
“We are scheduled to have two Murphy Express locations open and operating in Nevada by the end of the year along with two other locations under construction,” Jerianne Thomas, Murphy USA spokeswoman, told the news outlet.
As CSNews Online reported earlier this year, Murphy USA plans to expand into Nevada, Nebraska and Utah as part of its independent growth plan. This growth plan was put into effect after Murphy USA announced on Jan. 26 that its long-time partner Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has decided to develop a proprietary gasoline program for its supercenter locations not currently supplied by Murphy USA.
Murphy USA is a “very strong company with a bright future” and “we are just starting to see the potential of this business,” Murphy USA CEO Andrew Clyde said earlier this year.
Murphy USA Inc. operated 1,344 c-stores as of June 30.
