New Fortune 500 List Turns Up Several Fuel & C-store Retailers

NATIONAL REPORT — Convenience channel leaders find themselves among the best in the business world on the latest Fortune 500 list.

According to Fortune magazine, this year's Fortune 500 marks the 62nd running of the list. In total, Fortune 500 companies represent two-thirds of the U.S. GDP with $12 trillion in revenues, $840 billion in profits, $17 trillion in market value, and employ 27.9 million people worldwide.

Making a strong presence are convenience store chains Murphy USA Inc. (No. 258), CST Brands Inc. (No. 299), Casey's General Stores Inc. (No. 374) and TravelCenters of America LLC (No. 439), as well as energy and oil companies with c-store arms like Chevron Corp. (No. 14) with its ExtraMile stores and Marathon Petroleum Corp. (No. 43) with its Speedway LLC network. 

In addition, the list features ExxonMobil Corp. (No. 2), Phillips 66 (No. 30), Valero Energy Corp. (No. 32), Energy Transfer Equity (No. 65), CHS Inc. (No. 84), ConocoPhillips (No. 90), Global Partners LP (No. 276), Western Refining Inc. (No. 289) and Delek US Holdings Inc. (No. 445).

The latest version of the annual list also includes well-known players in the channel's supply chain, including PepsiCo Inc. (No. 44), The Coca-Cola Co. (No. 62), Tysons Food Inc. (No. 66), Mondelēz International (No. 94), The Kraft Heinz Co. (No. 153), The Altria Group Inc. (No. 149), General Mills Inc. (No. 161), ConAgra Foods (No. 176), Reynolds American Inc. (No. 266), Core-Mark Holding Co. (No. 317), The Hershey Co. (No. 362) and Dr Pepper Snapple Group (No. 413).
