New Pepsi Products Get Real This Summer
MCLEAN, Va. – PepsiCo Inc. plans to offer three versions of Pepsi-Cola sweetened with real sugar rather than high-fructose corn syrup this summer, according to a USA Today report.
The company confirmed it will roll out Pepsi Made With Real Sugar, Pepsi Vanilla Made With Real Sugar and Pepsi Wild Cherry Made With Real Sugar, but did not provide specific details.
The move comes as carbonated soft drinks continue to struggle, and some consumers express concern over the use of high-fructose corn syrup and artificial sweeteners in beverages. The new varieties of Pepsi could lure in consumers who are interested in alternate sweetener options.
"There are some consumers who seem to gravitate to 'sugar,' though in reality high-fructose corn syrup is also an excellent sweetener," stated Beverage Digest Publisher John Sicher.
