Nice N Easy Lauds Employees

CANASTOTA, N.Y. -- Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes, headquartered here, recently recognized several excelling employees, the company reported.

The Tully Nice N Easy, managed by Rachel Henry and Jason Dewey, was given top honors as Store of the Year. Henry also was awarded $25,000 as the winner of the Manager's Contest earlier this year.

Four-year employee Hans Scherer of the Pottersville Nice N Easy earned the prestigious Manager of the Year award. "Hans [Scherer] truly takes pride in the store and operates it just like he owns it," said Devin Spencer, executive vice president/CEO of Riverside Gas and Oil of Chestertown -- owner and operator of the Pottersville location.

Foodservice honors were given to Greg Guarnsey, named Foodservice Manager of the Year. The two-year employee works at the chain's Vernon location. Ryan Leffingwell, Boonville store, was Foodservice Coordinator of the Year, while Courtney Wallace of the Turin Road, Rome Nice N Easy was named Assistant Manager of the Year.

The Sharon Jordan Memorial True Spirit Award -- named in honor of a former employee who died following a short illness -- was given to Theresa "Tee" Chavious, manager of the corporate Nice N Easy in Taunton. The award, presented by president and CEO John MacDougall, is one of the most prestigious an employee can receive.

Nice N Easy, which operates more than 80 stores in upstate New York, also awarded four Caribbean trips to managers who met sales and profitability goals.
