North Carolina Joins Play At The Pump Locations
ATLANTA — The North Carolina Education Lottery is the fourth state lottery to offer tickets at the gas pump and is now using Linq3's Play At The Pump platform to reach more players.
On July 2, a resident of the state won a Carolina Cash 5 lottery for $227,196, the largest payout to date won through this technology.
"Every business must stay on top of changes in technology to remain relevant in today's marketplace," stated Alice Garland, executive director of the Education Lottery. "Many lottery players will continue to buy tickets inside their favorite stores, but Play At The Pump makes it convenient for others to participate. By staying up with the times, we can attract new customers and build on our success raising money for a good cause."
Play At the Pump leverages existing equipment at North Carolina retail locations and provides an easy-to-use interface for customers to simply swipe their debit card at the gas pump, follow a few prompts and get their Quick Pick numbers delivered on their smartphone, according to Atlanta-based Linq3. The prize is automatically credited to a player's card if they win, up to $599.
"Lotteries and retailers have a new opportunity to grow sales and profits by selling lottery draw games at the pump," said Linq3 CEO Daniel Cage. "Our Play At The Pump service is interactive and designed as a convenience for fuel customers to add a lottery ticket when filling up simply by swiping their credit or debit card."
Play At The Pump is currently available at locations in North Carolina, California, Missouri and Minnesota, including all Murphy USA and Express stores.
