Panama City, Fla. Service Station Closing After 25 Years

PANAMA CITY, Fla. -- Full-service stations have become a rare sight with the advent of self-service gas stations. They will be that much harder to find with the closure of Bailey Service Station in Panama City, Fla., according to a WJHG.com report. Its owners, Jim and Charlotte Bailey, are shutting down their service station after 25 years.

"The economy, it caught up with us, we got to where we couldn't compete with the chain type service station," said Jim Bailey.

"We've enjoyed being here for 25 years, enjoyed getting to meet a lot of people," said Charlotte Bailey. The Baileys stated that they would miss their regular everyday customers the most.

However, the Baileys intend to keep their convenience store open for the time being. They stated that they plan to retire and hopefully sell the service station in early 2012.
