Parker's Plans to Open a New Store Every Two Months

RINCON, Ga. -- The new Parker's convenience store scheduled to open soon at the site of a former Springfield Ford is one of many planned for the area near Rincon, Ga. Fifteen more are planned for the future, according to a WTOC.com report.

"We are hoping to open a new store every two months for the foreseeable future. We think it is the right time to be growing," said Greg Parker, president and CEO of The Parker Cos. "Land costs are coming down and construction costs are down. Unemployment is up. There are a lot of good people out there looking for jobs. Money is cheap. This is a great time to be growing."

As many as six brand new stores could open in the next year alone, reported the news outlet.

The c-store chain has pursued aggressive growth in recent months, breaking ground on its 28th location in July. The 4,000-square-foot state-of-the-art store, located in Garden City, Ga., is expected to open its doors in November 2012. It was also named No. 3006 on Inc.'s annual list of the top 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S., as CSNews Online reported.

Parker's operates 27 c-stores in South Carolina and southeast Georgia.
