Penn State to Hold Networking Event with Steve Sheetz

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Penn State University will host a public networking event with alumnus Steve Sheetz, chairman of convenience chain Sheetz Inc., on Tues., March 15, at the Grand Concourse in Station Square.

The program, which will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., is sponsored by Penn State Alumni Career Services and the Small Business Club of Pittsburgh. It is part of a series of networking events hosted in conjunction with Alumni Career Services throughout the East Coast.

Sheetz will discuss the entrepreneurial success of Sheetz Inc. and share the story of how a small, family-owned deli quickly became a chain of 365 convenience stores in six states.

The program will offer a reception with a cash bar and hors d'oeuvres, as well as an opportunity to meet and talk with Penn State alumni and friends, according to the university. The cost for Penn State Alumni Association members is $7 to pre-register, and $10 at the door. The non-member cost is $15 to pre-register, and $20 at the door.

As CSNews Online previously reported, Steve and Nancy Sheetz were honored as Penn State Philanthropists of the Year in June 2010. The award recognizes donors who have demonstrated exceptional generosity in the promotion and support of the university.

Steve Sheetz is a 1969 Penn State graduate.
