HOUSTON -- Shell Oil announced yesterday that Nancy Prior will assume the role of North American Refueling Manager for Shell Oil Products U.S. (SOPUS).

"I am very excited about this new opportunity and look forward to continuing working with Shell branded wholesalers and retailers in this new role," Prior told CSNews Online.

In her new position, Prior is responsible for managing forecourt and refueling programs for Shell in the U.S. and Canada. With 24 years industry experience, she served as category manager; business services; and convenience retailing U.S. for Shell. Prior is a past member of the Convenience Store News Editorial Advisory Board.

In other people news, Duane Gilliam, a board member and oil-industry veteran, was named chairman of VeraSun Energy Corp., one of the nation's largest ethanol producers. Gilliam will replace Gordon Ommen who recently resigned as chairman.

Gilliam etired from Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC in May 2003 after serving as president of Ashland Petroleum Co. until it merged with Marathon Oil Corp. in 1998. He joined the board in 2005 and serves as chairman of the compensation committee. Gilliam is nonexecutive chairman of NTR Acquisition Co. and serves on the board of convenience fuel store chain Super Quik.
