With the
completed acquisition of Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC (MAP) by Marathon Oil Corp., the company is making some changes. First, Gary R. Heminger has been appointed executive vice president of Marathon Oil Corp., effective immediately.
In his new position, Heminger will also serve as one of Marathon's corporate officers, and will continue in his role as president of MAP, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marathon, which will change its name to Marathon Petroleum Company LLC effective Sept. 1, 2005, following Marathon's recent acquisition of Ashland Inc.'s interest in MAP. Heminger will report to Clarence P. Cazalot Jr., Marathon president and CEO, and will remain based in Findlay, Ohio.
Additionally, Speedway SuperAmerica LLC's president, Ron Becker, will retire Aug. 1, after more than 26 years of service. Speedway SuperAmerica, which is owned by MAP, has more than 1,700 stores.
"Ron's leadership and many years of dedicated service are a testament to his strong work ethic, and we thank him for the contributions he has made to our success," said Heminger.
Anthony R. "Tony" Kenney, vice president of business development for MAP, will succeed Becker as SSA president, reporting to Heminger. During his 25-year career with MAP, Kenney has served in various assignments in production and international accounting, supply and transportation, finance and marketing, as well as SSA vice president of finance and IT services.
Also, Pamela K. M. Beall has been appointed director of business development for MAP, effective Aug. 1. In her new assignment, she will report directly to Heminger. Currently, Beall serves as MAP corporate affairs director with responsibility for purchasing and commercial services as well as public and state government affairs. Beall has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in the fields of finance, treasury, accounting and business development, both inside and outside of the oil and gas industry.

In other people news, RBS Lynk announced Jerry Uffner joined the company as director of sales for the prepaid products division. Uffner will be reporting to Lori Breitzke, vice president of prepaid products. Uffner brings more than 17 years of experience in card-based businesses with a focus on prepaid cards over the last ten years. Uffner is a former veteran of RBS Lynk, having started with the card-issuing division in 1999.
In his role as director of sales, Uffner will be responsible for developing sales strategies to market innovative prepaid stored-value card products to banks, community financial institutions, businesses, retailers and consumers.
Thanasi Foods, a specialty foods company that markets a line of Jim Beam-branded snack products, named Ron Mills vice president of sales.
In this newly created position, Mills will manage Thanasi’s national sales organization and be responsible for the continued growth of Thanasi's current brand portfolio through expansion of product sales and distribution. He will also lead the development and execution of sales programs for future Thanasi products.
Mills joins Boulder, Colo.-based Thanasi from ConAgra Foods Inc., where he has built his career since 1981. He most recently held the position of vice president, customer development, for ConAgra’s convenience unit, a position he has held since 2003.
