General Tobacco promoted Ronald Denman to the position of executive vice president. Denman comes to the position from his role as general counsel.

In this role, Denman will manage all its affiliate companies and oversee operational aspects of the company including sales, marketing, real estate, distribution, employment, finance, contracts and litigation.

"Ron has been an influential team player since General Tobacco's inception, contributing significantly to General Tobacco's development and ascent as a key competitor in the tobacco industry," said president and CEO Vidal Suriel. "His leadership is a genuine resource for the General Tobacco team."

Before joining the company, Denman was part of a private practice that served Suriel as a business consultant and attorney. He was a partner for Marlow Connel Valerius Abrams Lowe & Adler and has had more then 15 years of legal experience. Denman is currently a member of the Florida Bar and the American Bar Association and volunteers for Lawyers for Children and sits on the board for the Orange Bowl Foundation.

In supplier news, Fleet One added three new people to its sales team -- Doug McDonald as associate account executive; Chris McCullough as associate account executive and Brett Jordon as account executive.

McDonald, a native of Canada, has more than 15 years of sales experience. Prior to joining Fleet One, he was the national sales representative for Wilhagen Ventures, where he specialized in inside sales of HVAC equipment.

McCullough joins the team from Paschall Services, where he was the fleet manager and was responsible for the daily logistics for 60 long-haul power units.

Jordon has been appointed account executive for the local-west region. Jordon graduated from the University of Kentucky and interned as a law clerk for Higgins, Himmelberg and Piliponis as well as the Fayette County Circuit Courts.

Also joining the company is Phillip Duncan as webmaster. He comes to the position from Columbia State Community College, where he was the web content manager and designer.

"These individuals are a strong addition to our sales and development team as we grow our company's fuel and cash provision services for America's transportation industry," said the director of sales, Harold Edwards.

In other people news, Additech appointed Thomas Howell to the role of chief technology officer. He comes to this position from his role as vice president of engineering.

Before joining Additech, Howell was the manager of test engineering for Texas Micro/RadiSys Corp. where he oversaw board level and system tests for all products. He has also held positions at Gateway 2000 where he was the manager of environmental and reliability engineering and Zenith Data Systems where he was the manager for design evaluation.

"The appointment of Tom to the chief technology officer position fills an important and strategic leadership role in the company. The innovations to our fuel additive delivery system that Tom is working on will improve the consumer experience and performance of our equipment for our retail customers," said Ralph Koehrer, chief executive for Additech.

In packaged snack news, Otis Spunkmeyer hired Chris Holmquist as the foodservice regional sales manager for the Southeast region. He comes to this position from H. J. Heinz Co., where he spent 10 years in their 'Away From Home Division.'

"Chris brings formidable business planning and excellent selling skills to the Otis Spunkmeyer team … we are looking forward to great things from this team builder and team player," said the company's executive vice president, Jerry Reardon

Most recently, he was the regional sales manager for the Northeast. He was also the sales planning manager at the company's world headquarters and has received the regional sales manager of the year award along with the company's highest recognition, the Keystone Club Award, three times.

Otis Spunkmeyer also promoted Matt McCormick to the position of vice president of sales for the retail division. McCormick joined the company two years ago from 19 years of experience in the packaged goods industry. His experience includes roles with Nestle, Wal-Mart and Clorox.

In this position McCormick will oversee the retail team to build its distributor network and secure the company's merchandising.

"I am confident that Matt will grow into this new role taking the retail business to new heights for Otis Spunkmeyer. He has been a driving force in his tenure here at Otis with big wins at Costco and most recently Safeway's in-store bakery cookie business," said Reardon.

In technology news, the Pinnacle Corp. hired John Yarbrough as the manager of retail solutions. He will specialize in Microsoft Dynamics financial management programs and be responsible for the concept, execution and delivery of new solutions for the company's Dynamics GP and other Pinnacle products.

In other people news, Jon Bolen has joined Westec InterActive, a digital surveillance and monitoring solutions company as the chief technology officer. He will oversee the development of technology, technical competencies, and new products in this position.

Bolen brings more than 15 years of operational leadership to the role. He comes to this position from Trax Retail Solutions, where he revamped the products and solutions package for the company. Bolen has also served as the general manager for Radient Systems' European operations.

"Jon Bolen brings the ideal combination of technology and application development experience to drive Westec's future plans and deliver on customer expectations," said Gerald T. Vento, CEO and owner of Westec.

In other people news, Money Controls expanded its team with the appointment of Ken Dharwar to the position of Technical Sales Manager. Dharwar brings more than 20 years of gaming, amusement, parking and vending market experience to Money Controls.

Dharwar will report directly to the group applications manager, David John. "Ken's addition to the team means that we are even better equipped to deal professionally with all customer issues," John said.
