Pilot Flying J Contributes $25K to 'Nashville Salutes' Program
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Pilot Flying J served as a $25,000 Gold Sponsor for "Nashville Salutes: A Tribute to Our Nation's Most Honored Heroes." The weeklong celebration included multiple events designed to honor Medal of Honor recipients, culminating in a gala event held at Nashville's Music City Center on Saturday, Aug. 8.
Funds raised during Nashville Salutes will support the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation's Medal of Honor Character Development Program, a set of curriculum aimed at middle and high school students teaching character traits while practicing academic skills such as writing, critical thinking and analysis of complex text, according to the announcement.
"As an Army veteran myself, I understand and appreciate the sacrifices these heroes have made," stated Pilot Flying J Chairman Jim Haslam. "Pilot Flying J supports our military and veterans through Operation Tank Full of Love, Wreaths Across America, East Tennessee Veterans Memorial Association and the Fisher House Foundation, and our 24,000-plus team members respect and uphold the legacy of our nation's Medal of Honor recipients."
Following a "Service and Sacrifice Week" from Aug. 3-9, Nashville Salutes hosted 27 of the country's living Medal of Honor recipients during a series of events held Aug. 6-8. A full schedule is available at www.mohnashville.com.
"It's a privilege to be able to give back to our service men and women," Haslam added. "They do so much for our country, and Pilot Flying J is proud to be able to do something for them."
