Pilot Travel Centers to Open Medical Clinic

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- On March 20, Pilot Travel Centers and Roadside Medical Labs and Clinics will host a grand opening ceremony here to commemorate the opening of a retail medical clinic used to assess the health risks of professional drivers, the company stated.

The celebration will begin at 11 a.m. with a "belt-cutting" ceremony, followed by free health checks until 4 p.m., according to the company.

CSNews Online previously reported that Pilot and Roadside partnered in December 2007 to create a nationwide network of retail clinics, and plan to open 18 locations in 2008 and 20 more in 2009.

"We are pleased to partner with Roadside Medical to improve the lives of our customers," Jimmy Haslam, president of Pilot, said in a statement when the partnership was announced. "Our goal is to be a total solution provider for all driver services, and Roadside is helping us deliver on medical services. The evidence supporting driver health initiatives is too staggering to ignore. Providing drivers with healthy options and access to medical care isn't just good business, it's the right thing to do."
