Plaid Pantry Stores Now Home to Amazon Lockers

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Plaid Pantries Inc. has installed more than 70 Amazon Lockers at its locations throughout Portland, enabling customers to pick up and return packages at the convenience stores.

The expansion to Portland comes five years after Amazon opened its first lockers at brick-and-mortar retailers like Walmart and Best Buy, and c-store retailer 7-Eleven Inc., according to The Oregonian.

Through the service, Amazon customers can arrange to have online orders from retailers delivered to lockers at any of its available locations. Customers open the locker by scanning bar codes sent over email to their smartphones.

Plaid Pantry joins c-store retailer 7-Eleven, which began testing Amazon lockers in 2011, CSNews Online reported.

Amazon Lockers are located in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, Ore., San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle, as well as in Delaware, New Jersey and Virginia.

Beaverton-based Plaid Pantries operates 110 c-stores in Oregon and Washington state, primarily in the Portland metro area.
