PowerBar to Sponsor 2005 Breast Cancer Three-DayWalks
PowerBar Pria, a line of women's nutrition bars and beverages, has partnered with the National Philanthropic Trust as a National Series Sponsor for the 2005 Breast Cancer 3-Day Series, benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.
PowerBar kicks off the partnership this month with the introduction of "Psst ... Pass It On," a national consumer educational campaign and fund-raising effort designed to make it easy for individuals to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. PowerBar Pria invites consumers to visit www.powerbarpria.com/passiton to view and forward a series of Pria e-postcards created to provide relevant facts about breast cancer and helpful tips towards breast cancer prevention.
In less than one minute, the "Psst ... Pass It On" e-postcards can be e-mailed to friends, mothers, sisters, daughters, grandmothers or colleagues, signifying one simple step an individual can take to help increase breast cancer awareness. For every e-postcard sent, PowerBar will make a 5-cent donation to the Breast Cancer 3-Day, with a maximum donation of $20,000. The "Psst ... Pass It On" program will bring PowerBar's 2005 contribution to the 3-Day to $220,000, ultimately helping the event's beneficiaries fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.
"Pria consumers are often balancing many lifestyle demands, yet remain personally committed to cause-related efforts in their communities," said PowerBar Pria brand manager Andy Hill. "We're proud to offer them an accessible, uncomplicated way to help educate themselves and their friends and families about breast cancer, while contributing to an important cause."
PowerBar Pria will bring the "Psst ... Pass It On" campaign to life at each of the 12 Breast Cancer 3-Day events by offering walkers the opportunity to reach out to loved ones and share valuable breast cancer information while en route. PowerBar will provide 3-Day participants with prepaid Pria postcards, which can be personalized with a message and sent from a 17-foot Pria mailbox set up at each event.
The company's 3-Day event support also includes PowerBar Pria "Pit Stops," where walkers can fuel their 60-mile experience with samples of new PowerBar Pria Complete Nutrition bars, original PowerBar Pria bars and PowerBar Endurance Sport Drink. Pria-sponsored 3-Day Walk coaches will be on hand at each event to support walkers and provide participants with customized nutrition and hydration tips for their event.
In addition to its role as a 2005 3-Day National Series Sponsor, PowerBar Pria also supports a number of regional Komen Race for the Cure events each year.
