Quick Chek Signs Lease for New Location in Ocean County, N.J.

WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. -- Quick Chek Corp. agreed to a long-term lease for a prototype convenience store to be located at the corner of Route 9 and Central Parkway in Berkeley Township, Ocean County, N.J., City Biz Real Estate reported.

J.G. Petrucci Co. Inc. will develop a 2.5-acre site into a 5,500-square-foot Quick Chek convenience store that will contain 16 fueling stations. Groundbreaking is anticipated for spring 2011, with the project expected to be completed in fall 2011, according to the report.

William Barglow of the Barglow Cos. was the broker of record for the transaction.

In other Quick Chek news, more than 20,000 pounds of food were collected at eight of its Sussex County locations in November during the "Stuff the Bus" campaign, which benefited the Sussex County Department of Human Services, Division of Social Services food pantry.

During the two-day event, individuals filled buses provided by Sussex County Skylands Ride with their donations. The campaign raised a grand total of 20,023 pounds of food, 100 turkeys and $2,210.82 in cash donations, The Advertiser-News reported.

In addition, the Quick Chek Riding Team raised $76,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation during the organization's recent Ride for the Cure weekend-long bike ride in Tucson, Ariz. The convenience store chain's 14-member team hopes to raise an additional $1,000 during the 30-day post-ride fundraising time, according to mycentraljersey.com.

The formation of this year's Quick Chek Riding Team followed Quick Chek Senior Vice President Mike Murphy's raising of a record-setting $15,000 in donations by a single individual for the foundation's 100-mile ride in Whitefish, Mont., last year.
