QuickChek Among Best Places to Work in NY State
WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. — QuickChek Corp. was named one of the Best Places to Work in New York State for the third consecutive year.
The statewide Best Places to Work survey and awards programs are designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in New York, whose practices benefit the state’s businesses, economy and workforce. Rankings are not derived from an outside judge, but instead by each company’s employee base.
The Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based convenience store chain has 12 locations in New York’s Hudson Valley and opened its first of several planned stores on Long Island in October. It was recognized by the New York State Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and Best Companies Group, an independent company managing Best Places to Work programs nationwide.
“We firmly believe in being a great place to work, a great place to shop and a great place to invest,” said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling. “With over 3,500 team members in 140 stores, we look to create a positive experience and fun environment where core values are nurtured, hard work is rewarded and leadership is cultivated.”
The privately-held, family-owned and -operated company has 140 retail locations throughout New Jersey and New York. QuickChek has been honored in both states, having been named one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey for five consecutive years by NJBIZ magazine.
The company has been recognized for what it does for the workforce and the community surrounding it. Its full-time employees are offered a wide variety of health and welfare benefits, ranging from medical, dental and vision to life insurance, a 401(k) savings plan, fitness reimbursement and even pet insurance.
A typical QuickChek store creates 35 to 50 new local jobs and generates approximately $1 million in tax revenue. In its 47-year history, the company is said to have never laid off an employee due to economic reasons.
Additionally, QuickChek is active in its communities and has raised millions of dollars to support an array of causes that benefit children, veterans and families alike. Current initiatives include Hope for the Warriors, the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, the Hudson Valley Food Bank and Long Island Cares.
QuickChek will be formally recognized at an awards dinner recognizing the 2015 Best Companies to Work for in New York State on April 21 at the Albany Marriott.
