QuikTrip to Bring Gas and Convenience Stores to Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- QuikTrip Corp. will open four of its next generation gas stations and convenience stores in Spartanburg County by early 2012, according to GoUpstate.com.

"We have absolutely fallen in love with the Upstate," said QuikTrip spokesman Mike Thornbrugh. "We are very excited about our move into South Carolina."

The stores will be some of QuikTrip's first in the state. The first site is located off Highway 9 at exit 75 on I-85 and is scheduled to open in September; the second is at 121 Fairview Church Road at Exit 77 of I-85 and will open in October; the third is at 7114 Lone Oak Road near Hearon Circle and will open in late November; and the fourth is at 489 W. Main St. in downtown Spartanburg and will open in February, as CSNews previously reported.

This last store will create 15 to 18 jobs, said Thornbrugh. According to site plans, it will also have 75 parking spaces, 18 fueling stations and access points on two streets.

Though he would not commit to a specific number of stores the chain plans to eventually open, he mentioned Anderson and Greenville counties as possibilities. "The number of stores is irrelevant," he said, "because it's more about the proper locations for us."

Thornbrugh noted that QuikTrip's goal is to distinguish itself through its cleanliness, its wide selection and its fresh food. "We believe our customer service is better than anyone else in the business," he said. "We guarantee anything we do. If you're not satisfied, then it's on us."
