QuikTrip Named Semifinalist for Freedom Award
TULSA, Okla. -- QuikTrip has been named one of the 133 nationwide semifinalists for the Department of Defense's Freedom Award, which recognizes employers for their support of members of the National Guard or Reserve, according to a Tulsa World report. Service members and their family members nominated more than 3,000 employers this year.
The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) coordinates the awards. This Department of Defense agency seeks to educate employers on applicable laws related to members of the National Guard and Reserve, such as the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, according to the report. It also honors those employers when their work goes above and beyond listed requirements.
"The employers selected as Freedom Award semifinalists have distinguished themselves for their support of their National Guard and Reserve employees, and are truly serving our nation with their extraordinary commitment to these special employees," ESGR National Chairman James G. Rebholz said in a press release. "Their efforts are to be applauded, and ESGR salutes these patriotic employers for their special care of their Guard and Reserve employees and their families while they serve our nation in times of war and peace."
One hundred and sixty employers have received the Freedom Award since the first one was given out in 1996. This year's 15 winners will be announced later this summer.
