QuikTrip Views New App as More Than Marketing Tool
TULSA, Okla. — QuikTrip Corp.’s new mobile app is much more than just a marketing tool. It’s a great way to serve millennial consumers, company spokesperson Mike Thornbrugh told Tulsa World.
“We’re smart enough to know [a mobile app] is the wave of the future for the consumer. It’s really another tool,” he said.
Like other apps, QuikTrip’s app, compatible with iOS and Android devices, provides information regarding closest QuikTrip locations, gas prices, mobile coupons, and a menu for food and drinks. In fact, the app basically provides consumers with most everything the convenience store retailer offers.
However, Thornbrugh stressed the retailer will not flood the app with advertisements. Instead, the goal is to learn about consumers and their habits, such as which gas stations they frequent, the news source reported.
The app, which has been in QuikTrip’s long-term plans for the past three or four years, also takes strict measures to secure customer data.
Mobile ordering is definitely in the app’s future, Thornbrugh told Tulsa World.
Tulsa-based QuikTrip Corp. operates more than 700 convenience stores in 11 states. It was recently named Convenience Store News’ 2015 Retailer Innovator of the Year.
