RaceTrac Charts Expansion on Florida's East Coast

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Florida continues to be a hotbed of convenience store activity. This time, it is RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. looking to boost its footprint in the Sunshine State.

According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, the Atlanta-based retailer is slated to welcome customers at a new store on Beville Road in Daytona Beach by the end of the year as it expands its Volusia County presence over the next few years.

Construction on the 6,000-square-foot c-store/gas station is underway and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year, according to Jessica Rice, a spokeswoman for RaceTrac.

Another RaceTrac is also being planned for 3030 W. International Speedway Blvd., but ground is not expected to break on that store until next year, Rice told the news outlet.

In addition, five RaceTrac new stores are slated to open between 2016 and 2017 in the Volusia-Flagler area, she added.

"RaceTrac is deeply committed to the Daytona Beach community, and we look forward to continuing to nourish and grow those relationships and build state-of-the-art convenience stores that deliver upon our guests' needs and desires," Rice wrote in an email.

RaceTrac currently has eight locations in Volusia County, as well as one in Palm Coast.

RaceTrac is not the only convenience retailer building up its presence in the Volusia County market. Pennsylvania-based Wawa Inc. has opened three stores in the county since June and plans to open a New Smyrna Beach location next year.
