RaceTrac Expands in Jacksonville, Fla.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- For RaceTrac convenience stores, business is good in Jacksonville, and the company has plans for four more locations to join its four existing sites, here according to a Jacksonville.com report.

Four RaceTrac stores currently operate within the city; two more are under construction, and the company plans to add another two in the future. One of the RaceTrac locations currently under construction, located on Atlantic Boulevard, is a superstore with 20 spots for drivers to fuel up.

"Jacksonville is definitely an area where we would want to keep expanding that growth," said Taylor Elzey, a RaceTrac real estate representative. "For us, we’re looking at all the markets and going after the best sites we can find."

Elzey added that RaceTrac wants to make it easier for drivers to purchase gas without waiting in line for a pump. "Everyone hates to go into a jammed-up lot," she said.

According to the report, RaceTrac set a goal in 2010 of constructing 50 new stores and it exceeded that number, opening 53 stores. Elzey said the company prefers to place new stores near interstate highways. "The interchange locations are really our bread and butter," she said.
