Record Sales and Awards At Sheetz

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc. has been honored by Gov. Ed Rendell and The Commonwealth as one of the top 10 places to work in Pennsylvania. In addition, the company announced record sales for this year, and committed to maintaining an aggressive 10 percent growth rate in 2004, according to Steve Sheetz, chairman of Sheetz Inc.

"All of us at Sheetz are proud to be named one of the top 10 places to work in the state again this year," said Sheetz. "We work hard to make sure we create a winning environment for our employees who work so hard to win customers."

Created in 2000 by the Ridge-Schweiker Administration, the Top 10 award program -- the first of its kind offered by a state -- was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Pennsylvania, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and business environment.

For this year's award, more than 250 Pennsylvania Sheetz employees were randomly selected across the company's nearly 200 Pennsylvania stores to rate the company and its workplace practices, according to Sheetz.

In addition to being named one of the state's top 10 employers, Sheetz Inc., for the first time in its history, is a contender to be recognized by Fortune magazine as one of the Top 100 employers in the country. The Top 100 list is slated to appear in a January edition of Fortune magazine.
