Redbox Debuts Mobile App for Android, Upgraded App for iPhone
OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill -- The movie rental kiosk leader redbox is rolling out a new mobile app for the Android phone, upgrading its app for the iPhone and enhancing its Web site to allow for easier movie rental on the go.
"The free redbox Android app and upgraded iPhone app provide mobile users an interactive portal to view and rent new release movies from any of our more than 26,000 locations nationwide," explained Gary Cohen, senior vice president of marketing and customer experience for redbox. "Our online and mobile tools instantly connect consumers to our retail locations nationwide, delivering real-time access to inventory at any location from virtually anywhere."
The new redbox Android app allows users to find a nearby redbox kiosk, browse titles with box art and reserve movies. The redbox iPhone app, which launched in December 2009, has been upgraded to provide additional content and faster connection speeds. In addition, the company's Web site debuted a major makeover designed to make it easier for visitors to browse and reserve the latest movies online, according to a company release.
