Rice Honored

GREENFIELD, Mass. -- Tim Rice, president and CEO of Rice Oil Co. is the recipient of the Comwell Consultants to Management Joseph B. O'Toole Humanitarian Executive of the Year Award for 2002.

"Mr. Rice was selected for this award because of on-going commitment to always doing the right thing, for the right reason, the right way for his family, his business, the employees of Rice and the community," said John Sobecki, president and CEO of Comwell Consultants to Management.

"This award recognizes one of many nominated executives from around the U.S. Mr. Tim Rice exemplifies the unique characteristic of understanding that it is always important to focus on the needs of others, whether they are employees, customers, the community or family members," he said.

Rice, whose company operates 30 Neighbors convenience stores, is active in his community from supporting The Muscular Dystrophy Association, the YMCA and numerous other charities. He has also worked diligently at becoming a "servant leader" whereby he constantly pays attention to the common welfare of his employees, Sobecki said.

The award was renamed for Joseph B. O'Toole, a human resources manager for Citgo Petroleum, who received the first humanitarian "Executive of the Year Award" in 1982. He died last year.
