RIISER Energy Implements Heartland's SmartLink Solution

WAUSAU, Wis. -- RIISER Energy signed on to become a Heartland Payment Systems Inc. SmartLink customer.

SmartLink is a cloud-based, secure managed network service with payment card industry (PCI)-compliant network security that supports transaction data flow and the monitoring of in-store clients. Specifically, the software solution provides retailers with virtual private network communications for automatic tank gauges, in-store environmental and refrigeration control systems, back-office systems, digital signs, e-mail and Internet access.

"We chose Heartland's SmartLink as our PCI partner due to the ease of site setup, its excellent customer service and technical support team, and SmartLink's overall program capabilities," said Dave Simonis, director of information technology for RIISER Energy. "With a small information technology department, we don't have the resources to fully develop and implement all aspects of PCI internally. Heartland's SmartLink program makes PCI much more manageable."

RIISER Energy now joins nearly 50,000 other petroleum retailers and convenience stores that are using one or a variety of Princeton, N.J.-based Heartland's suite of products.

"SmartLink will definitely help RIISER Energy with all of its locations in Wisconsin, and we look forward to a strong partnership," said Michael Youngkin, Heartland's senior director of network solutions. "We know convenience stores and gasoline retailers struggle with multiple telecom providers, high overhead costs and, most importantly, meeting PCI compliance guidelines."

RIISER Energy operates 28 c-stores and gas stations in Wisconsin. It also owns three travel centers and one restaurant.
