YORK, Pa. — Rutter’s Dairy has gone organic with the introduction of fresh organic milk to its local lineup.
The organic milk is available in fat free, 1 percent, 2 percent and whole varieties. It is sold in half-gallon sizes in several grocery and fresh/organic-focused retail outlets.
The offering is free of GMOs, synthetic or artificial growth hormones, antibiotics, synthetic or persistent pesticides, and synthetic fertilizers, according to the company. The organic milk is pasteurized at standard pasteurization temperatures like all Rutter’s milk.
“We are excited to expand our product line to allow organic-focused shoppers to experience the quality of our brand with Rutter’s Fresh Organic Milk,” said Todd Rutter, president of Rutter’s Dairy.
Rutter’s organic milk comes from local farms that are certified organic by Pennsylvania Certified Organic, a USDA-accredited organic certifying agency. The milk comes from family-owned farms in Eastern and Southcentral Pennsylvania and Northeastern Maryland, which allows Rutter’s to get its milk from the farm to customer’s refrigerators as fast as they can, the company said in a statement.
Rutter’s Dairy has also created a new website specifically for its dairy offerings, www.ruttersdairy.com, where customers can use the fresh locator to search and view retail locations that sell Rutter’s dairy products, as well as view a product portfolio and do-it-yourself activities, recipes and educational information.
