Rutter's Integrates Lottery Into Enhanced Mobile App

YORK, Pa. – Rutter's Farm Stores is partnering with the Pennsylvania Lottery Commission to provide access to the day's winning lottery numbers and exclusive lottery offers through the Rutter’s mobile app. The winning numbers will be automatically updated as soon as they are reported by the lottery, thanks to integration of the lottery's RSS feed into the app.

Through a promotion that launched Jan. 30, Rutter's customers can get a free $4 Powerball ticket with Power Play when they purchase a $5 instant ticket at Rutter's. The retailer informed customers of the promotion using a push notification sent to mobile app users who opted into Rutter's deal alerts. The notification provides instructions for participation in the deal. After customers complete the provided steps, a bar coded mobile coupon is sent to their mobile device. The coupon is redeemable by scanning the device's screen at Rutter's convenience stores.

"We continually develop our mobile app to meet the changing needs and expectations of our customers," said Rutter's Chief Customer Officer Derek Gaskins. "The addition of the lottery drawing results and offers is another way we can provide our customers with convenience and value by giving them the information and the offers that they want, delivered right to their fingertips in a way they love."

Rutter's launched the convenience store industry's first mobile app in 2009. The app won Convenience Store News' Outstanding Tech Implementation Award in 2011 and the Best Mobile App category at the 2012 National Retail Federation's annual convention Customer Engagement Awards.

Rutter's Farm Stores operates 58 c-stores throughout central Pennsylvania.
