Rutter's Remodeling More Stores to Sell Beer

YORK, Pa. — Rutter's Farm Stores is continuing to remodel stores to incorporate beer sales. It most recently added beer to its Middletown, Pa., location, which is the first convenience store in Dauphin County to offer a beer cave.

It also added a beer cave to its store in Waynesboro, Pa., which is the second Rutter's store in Franklin County to offer beer. That location and the Mercersburg, Pa., store are the only c-stores to have beer in that county, the company said.

The York-based chain first added beer sales at a store in Lancaster County in December 2016, following a change to Pennsylvania law that makes it easier for c-stores to offer beer, as CSNews Online previously reported.

"Rutter's is striving to get beer in as many of our stores, present and future locations, as possible. Waynesboro and Middletown are two very popular locations for us and we are excited to be able to provide this offer for our loyal customers, giving the convenience they deserve," said Robert Perkins, vice president of marketing for Rutter's.

The c-store chain's beer caves include a wide assortment of craft, domestic and imported beers and ciders. Singles and six-packs are offered in the front cooler doors, and 12-packs are located inside the beer cave, which has a "perfect beer drinking temperature" of 29 degrees.

Both the Waynesboro Rutter's and Middletown Rutter's have been renovated to accommodate the beer cave and seating for at least 30 people. Customers can purchase items from the beer cave on Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m., and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m., in compliance with Pennsylvania law.

Rutter's is a family-owned convenience store chain operating more than 60 locations throughout central Pennsylvania.
