Fox43 Meteorologist MaryEllen Pann poses for a picture with one of her Weather Kids.
YORK, Pa. — Rutter’s Farm Stores is giving back through another children’s program.
The Pennsylvania-based convenience store retailer is the local sponsor for Fox43 and MaryEllen Pann’s Weather Kid Wednesday. Every Wednesday, Fox43 chooses one child between the 5th and 12th grade via Facebook submissions to be one of Pann's Weather Kids.
Each child who is chosen receives one pint of Rutter’s Chocolate Milk, a t-shirt, a drawstring bag and a plush cow by Rutter’s. Then, for one hour during the afternoon broadcast, the Weather Kid will gain access to behind the scenes of Pann’s job as Fox43’s meteorologist and will join her on-air at 4:45 p.m. to present the weather forecast to viewers.
“We have always been a huge supporter of donating to organizations geared towards helping children. So, what better way than to help them discover their passion for science, communications, and follow their dreams to maybe one day become a weather person. Rutter’s and Fox43 have built a great partnership, and sponsoring their Weather Kid is just a natural fit,” said Derek Gaskins, Rutter’s chief customer officer.
More information and the submission form can be found here.
York-based Rutter’s is a family-owned c-store chain operating more than 60 locations throughout central Pennsylvania.
