SAM'S CLUB Installs New Dispenser Platform
Greensboro, N.C. -- SAM'S CLUB has installed Gilbarco Veeder-Root's new Encore-S dispenser platform. With its true POS capability resident in the dispenser, Encore-S provides unprecedented force for merchandising applications and real fault tolerance on the gas island for maximum uptime, the company reported.
"All of our installations of Encore-S dispensers are meeting our expectations in terms of uptime and efficiency," said David Bing, vice president of fuel for SAM'S CLUB.
The Encore S technology is "simple to use and more aesthetic," Jon DeLine, product manager at Gilbarco told CSNews Online during a visit to SAM'S CLUB in Greensboro, N.C. It offers a number of options to the retailer, including a color screen, contactless card readers, and up to eight hoses per unit, he said.
It also uses broadband IP and XML to integrate the POS, and its HTML Screen Programming makes it easy to design and deploy customer interfaces, according to the company. The integrated POS increases uptime with superior fault tolerance and increases profits by enabling offline and unattended fuel sales.
Additionally, another option Gilbarco is testing is the Order Anywhere, Pay Anywhere application, an extension of its Smart Merchandising program, which already provides retailers with the ability to offer coupons at the pump.
"We've had reports that customers at some of the larger chains using the Smart Merchandising program, are seeing 2,100 plus coupons a month being used," said DeLine.
This new addition to the Smart Merchandising application -- Order Anywhere, Pay Anywhere -- will provide retailers with the ability to generate more profit from the gas island by enabling customers to order food service items on the dispenser screen, complete with multimedia interface and integration with the Gilbarco Passport POS inside the store.
