Shell Awards British Columbia Man Five Years of Free Fuel

CALGARY, Alberta -- Hon Chan, of Richmond, British Columbia, really loves to travel, so winning five years of free Shell V-Power premium fuel is certainly a gift that will come in handy. Chan was named the winner of Shell's "Fuel My Passion" contest and the grand-prize valued at $15,101.

To enter, he sent a picture of himself posed next to his 2010 Infiniti G37x, with the hood up to show off his "clean" engine. "The way I see it, an engine and gasoline are a perfect partnership," Chan said as part of his entry. "Fueling up with high-quality fuel contributes to a smooth ride with great power."

From April 13 to June 22, visitors to Shell's website reviewed entries and selected Chan as the winner of five free years of fuel. Chan, who three years ago drove for 23 days from western British Columbia to the eastern tip of Nova Scotia, plans to use his winnings to drive from his home to the northern tip of Alaska.

"For the second year in a row, the Shell V-Power 'Fuel My Passion' contest has been fueled by customers who are passionate about their vehicles and [our] premium fuels," said Diana Hamadeh, marketing communications manager for Shell Canada. "This year was even bigger that last [year] with tens of thousands of Canadians flooding our contest website to participate, vote and share the entry photos through Facebook and other social media networks."
