Shell Expands WINsday Promotion to IndyCar Racing Series
HOUSTON -- Shell Oil Co. is expanding its three-year-old WINsday promotion to the world of IndyCar and the Indianapolis 500 for the first time. If Team Penske driver Helio Castroneves wins the IZOD IndyCar Series race, Shell Saver cardholders can save 33 cents per gallon (limited to 25 gallons per purchase per vehicle) on Shell V-Power Premium Gasolines, Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines or Shell Diesel when they fuel up on the following Wednesday – or WINsday as Shell calls it.
"I'm so excited Shell brought the WINsday promotion to IndyCar this year," said Castroneves. "I have the best fans in the business, and it would be an honor for me to help them save 33 cents per gallon on high-quality Shell fuel, like Shell V-Power Premium Gasoline, if I take the checkered flag at this year's race."
Racing fans and Shell Savers can cheer Castroneves on to a record-tying fourth win when he pilots the No. 3 Shell V-Power Pennzoil Ultra Chevrolet on Sunday, May 26, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the company said.
"The iconic Indianapolis 500 is an ideal opportunity for us to further expand our WINsday program, so we can reward our loyal customers with another chance to save on fuel," added Shell's Ebbie Normyle, manager, U.S. consumer payment. "We'll be cheering on Castroneves as he takes on the competition during one of the most celebrated events in the history of racing. And this time he's not just driving for a historic win; he's driving for savings too."
Shell customers can already save on fuel on Wednesdays throughout the NASCAR Sprint Cup season each time Penske Racing driver Joey Logano wins a points race, as CSNews Online previously reported. Additionally, the promotion was expanded this year to allow registered members of the Fuel Rewards Network (FRN) who use their Shell Saver Card on a WINsday to receive an e-mail with a FRN Rewards Code and activation instructions. Once the code is activated, the additional cents-per-gallon savings will be added to their FRN account and can be redeemed on a future fuel purchase at participating Shell-branded stations.
