Shell Supports Fire Relief Efforts

DENVER -- At a State Capitol news conference with Colorado Gov. Bill Owens, the Shell Oil Co. Foundation donated $50,000 to the Colorado wildfire relief effort. Shell presented $25,000 each to the Colorado State Forest Service and the American Red Cross.

"Containing and extinguishing wildfires is just the first step in a lengthy process of rejuvenation," said Gov. Owens. "The generosity of public entities like the Shell Oil Foundation will help provide the resources we need to ensure the success of this vitally important process."

The Forest Service donation will support reforestation of Colorado forests and efforts designed to protect and rehabilitate local properties. The donation to the American Red Cross will enhance their response to affected individuals, firefighters and businesses.

"Shell is deeply concerned about the devastation from the wildfires and its effect on the people of Colorado," said Steve Miller, chairman, president and CEO of Houston-based Shell Oil Co. "Shell wants to do its part to help the people and environment of Colorado recover."
